The Soldier’s Wife.
I know you are alive
when I walk the line
cast by the sun: rely
on a clear day
veins through the sky
pump messages of the heart to another
heart in morse code
only I can hear
the taps: forever
stolen by time
from murmurs of love
that stutter and stop.
if the wire
tethered to crosses
does not lead me to you -
never mind, I will use it as a noose.
when I walk the line
cast by the sun: rely
on a clear day
veins through the sky
pump messages of the heart to another
heart in morse code
only I can hear
the taps: forever
stolen by time
from murmurs of love
that stutter and stop.
if the wire
tethered to crosses
does not lead me to you -
never mind, I will use it as a noose.
