All in the shoes.
Do you have to test the waters before you really know what you want? My friend was adamant about not liking skinny boys. So what if there was this amazing guy that fulfilled every aspect, minus a detail - weight. My advice was to try it out. What if that minor detail can be overlooked? After dating him, my friend is adamant about weight. Now she knows.
She asked me to take my own advice and give this guy a chance. He's great on paper, except I'm not too keen on height (5'9), face (too Asian-looking), army (I'm a navy girl). I've accepted that I'm a shallow person. People who deny this, just like they deny being racist, are fools. You may try to deny society's superficial influence on you, but this life-long battle will not be won. That, my friend, is called being a realist.
For a short person (relatively, I am 5'2 which is giant to some), I really like tall guys. I'm also attracted to more European features. It doesn't matter if you're Asian, so long as you don't look (too) Asian. Please spare me the you-are-racist remarks. On top of that, I don't really care for people that smoke or have piercings. So why is that when I meet someone I find attractive, it goes against (almost) everything I believe in? Attraction truly is a confusing thing.
Although it might appear trivial, it all boils down to shoes. Besides the fact that I'm a shoe-fanatic, the type of shoes a guy wears is very telling of their personality and nature. When in doubt about a person, look down at their shoes. Attention to detail, my friends.

what do you mean "don't look too asian"? it's like saying an apple can't look too much of an apple.
