Movies and The Newman Family
I've never been into sadomasochism, but me wanting to see this film suggests otherwise. I guess it's because the concept seems...strange. My intrigue is in the fact that this little number is a romance-comedy. So is this a flirtation of dark comedy and dry humor? I don't know. I have yet to see Secretary. This little film came out under the radar or perhaps my radar. It was released in 2002. It also stars the beautiful Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Spader (who?). I'm not sure if that's a very flattering picture of Maggie, but i like it enough. I don't know when i've been so entranced by the lovely Maggie. I just think her unconventional beauty and true acting talent is so alluring. What more can you ask for in an actress? I've always taken a liking to "ugly beautiful." By no means am i saying she's ugly, but when i first laid eyes my intitial reaction was not, "wow, i would do her." Anyways, i'm not sure if i'll ever get around to watching this. I've had my eyes on The Piano (1993), but it seems that it's rarity. Blockbuster doesn't carry the movie! I was really peeved when i asked the woman because she was being really stupid about it. "Le Piano, did you say? No, you mean The Pianist!" Golly gee whiz. I had to repeat myself about a 6 times before i gave up on it altogether.
I indulged in a korean chick flick today. Now this is a darling movie. It was kind of slow paced, but overall it was really nice and genuine. I say genuine because the acting was superb. The girl, Ryeo-won Jeong, we'll call her J for short is an amazing actress. I first fell in love with her in the drama Kim San Soon. She is an expert at pathetic-crying. She can call on those tears at the snap of a finger and you'd be in your chair wanting to wipe her tears. This is her first full length film as lead actress and i think she did an impeccable job. In this film, she plays a girl suffering from MPD. With that being said, this could've been a cliche K film with a lot of hollow characters, but she managed to breathe life into each and everyone of her personalities. Brava! And she's so darned pretty it makes it easier to watch the film...not that it was very hard to watch in the first place. In contrast, you have the silly face of Tae-gyu Bong for comedic purposes...and of course, his skill. He's very endearing in this film, at least i fell in love with him. Bong falls in love with one of J's personalities and in the end, loses her...sort of. I don't want to give it away, so i can't spoil too much of the plot. It's a very sweet movie. It's not life changing, but it's a fun summer flick if you're up to it. 3.8/5.
I've wanted to spend a day in dallas, but the weather is being very uncooperative. It's so darned hot all the time. There is supposed to be a cold front coming in, but there are absolutely no traces of wind or overcast. I desperately want to go play outside. I like walking on sidewalks, outlet shopping, playing in parks, and other outside activities. How depressing. I think i'm now fully knowledgeable of KXAN. I just hope they interviewer doesn't throw me a curve ball. At my last interview at News 8 Austin, the lady gave me the most pathetic quiz filled with useless crap i've ever taken. I can't go into detail because i've totally forgotten what it asked, but i remembered it being ridiculous. What i do remember, is walking away with a glum feeling knowing that i didn't get the internship. To cheer myself up, there was a bout with ice cream...or frozen yogurt rather. It was delish. I had accept my fate at the time, so i was pleasantly surprised when i got a phone call by a lady telling me i've secured the position. For some reason, i always find that luck is by myself. Well, not always...but a lot. Luck wasn't by my side when i was in a car accident. Sigh. Anyways, my rebate came in the mail. I can proudly say that i am now $50 richer! What a need now is my car. I forget how long it's been, but i'm patiently waiting. Unfortunately, my patience is wearing thin.
How tragic [read more here]. You read these things in the newspaper and watch it on the news, but it really doesn't hit home until it's touched someone you know. Praying for the Newmans.
