Lubbock.

What a stressful weekend this has been. Road trips are insanely tiring if you have parents like mine. The reason we drove 5 hours to see my sister is because she asked us to attend her white coat ceremony. I wouldn't have gone, but she personally asked me so i said what the heck. Seeing OS was amazing. She looks so darned grown up. It was a beautiful sight.

On the drive there, i realized that i'm highly lactose intolerant. Even though i knew that about myself, i still chanced it and ate a DQ blizzard and munched on cheese cubes. Yea, i definitely paid for it afterwards. While in the car, i saw a lot of myself in each parent. If any of my bad traits appear, my parents are to blame. Yes, i take the low road.

Being in Lubbock was weird. Even though it doesn't feel different, time flies by so quickly. When i was younger, i never imagined life beyond HS. Now, i'm forced to think about the future and "what is to come." We met OS's roommate and she was a true sweetheart. Her parents knew everything about me and even asked me how my interview went. Isn't that nice. Right when someone praises me, i can always count on my mom to counter. She boasts about OS, but when it comes to me..."OH no! She doesn't study nearly as hard. That's why she's going into journalism." And that (among many other reasons) is why i want to get out of texas.

While i was trying to take a nap, LS was talking to Roomie's cute dad. Instead of joining the conversation, i decided to eavesdrop.

RD: Koreans and Vietnamese are good friends.
LS: Ok...
RD: Now, Koreans and Japanese...they are not so..

From the randomocity of that snippet, now imagine a whole conversation like that. It was quite amusing.

On our way home, the parents got into a big argument. Both my parents are so hard-headed. Goodness grief. My dad wanted to one way home and my mom wanted to take another way. Of course, both thought their way was the "correct way." Argument pursued, which lead to my dad abruptly stopping the car and walking home. My mom promptly hopped into the car seat and started driving away. That is when me and LS jumped in to rescue the siltation. LS yelled at ma for awhile until i told her to run outside to placate the pa. When both parents were in the car, LS smartly turned on the viet radio channel to dilute the tension. Mission accomplished? I think so.
